D&rsquo;une taille 50% plus grande que la Voie Lact\u00e9e, son trou noir central est environ 10 fois plus massif (42 millions de masses solaires), ce qui la rend tr\u00e8s active.<br>Ce qui rend cette galaxie tr\u00e8s int\u00e9ressante, c&rsquo;est que l&rsquo;on a pu d\u00e9terminer sa distance absolue \u00e0 5% pr\u00e8s gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la pr\u00e9sence de masers \u00e0 vapeur d&rsquo;eau \u00e9mettant \u00e0 22 GHz dont les positions et mouvements ont pu \u00eatre d\u00e9termin\u00e9s avec grande pr\u00e9cision en utilisant des techniques d&rsquo;interf\u00e9rom\u00e9trie radio. Cette mesure a contribu\u00e9 de mani\u00e8re significative \u00e0 la calibration des distances des c\u00e9ph\u00e9ides de diff\u00e9rentes m\u00e9tallicit\u00e9s, une \u00e9tape essentielle pour augmenter la pr\u00e9cision des mesures de distance \u00e0 d&rsquo;autres galaxies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La magnifique image ci-dessous a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9alis\u00e9e en deux sessions dans les Yvelines dans des zones bortle 7 et bortle 4.
