On attribue souvent le nom de n\u00e9buleuse de l&rsquo;Aigle \u00e0 M16, mais ce n&rsquo;est pas tout \u00e0 fait exact. M16 est un tr\u00e8s jeune amas ouvert, d\u00e9couvert en 1745 par l&rsquo;astronome suisse Jean-Philippe Loys de Cheseaux, entour\u00e9 par la n\u00e9buleuse de l&rsquo;Aigle (d\u00e9signation : IC4703) dont la d\u00e9couverte est attribu\u00e9e \u00e0 Charles Messier. L&rsquo;ensemble est situ\u00e9 \u00e0 environ 5500 ann\u00e9es-lumi\u00e8re de nous, dans la queue de la constellation du Serpent, tout pr\u00e8s des constellations de l&rsquo;Ecu de Sobieski et du Sagittaire.<br>Les \u00e9toiles les plus \u00e9volu\u00e9es de M16 ne sont \u00e2g\u00e9es que de 6 millions d&rsquo;ann\u00e9es, et des \u00e9toiles y naissent encore.
